On July 13, Russell vanished after calling 911 to report a young child on the side of the roadway. Neither she nor a kid were discovered when cops revealed at the scene and, following a substantial search, Russell appeared at her home 2 days later on.
Though she at first declared that a male abducted her at the scene, authorities were unable to confirm her claims and discovered that she had Googled terms associated with kidnapping before she vanished.
At an interview on July 24, nevertheless, her lawyer supplied a declaration on Russell’s behalf to Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis to clarify her story.
“There was no kidnapping on Thursday, July 13, 2023,” Anthony stated. “My client did not see a baby on the side of the road. My client did not leave the Hoover area when she was identified as a missing person.”
“This was a single act done by herself,” the attorney’s declaration continued. “My customer was not with anybody or any hotel with anybody from the time she was missing out on. My customer excuses her actions to this neighborhood, the volunteers who were looking for her, to the Hoover Police department and other companies also, [and] to her loved ones.”
