    Kite- battling contests are held throughout the western state of Gujarat, and often trigger death and major injury.

    The goal of the contest is to lower other kites with kite string, which is enhanced with metal and in some cases glass powder.

    Two kids were eliminated in 2016– consisting of a three-year-old woman, Saanchi, who passed away within minutes of a cable twisting around her throat.

    Her father Alok Goel stated at the time: ‘The line wrapped around her throat. Before she could say anything, she started bleeding profusely and died within minutes.’
