The music world is grieving the loss of a legend.

OnSept 1, Jimmy Buffett, best understood for his 1977 hit “Margaritaville,” passed away at age76 A declaration shared on his social networks accounts stated the vocalist died quietly while surrounded by his household, buddies, music and pet dogs. “He lived his life like a song till the very last breath,” the message stated, “and will be missed beyond measure by so many.”

Buffett’s cause of death was not revealed. Two sources acquainted with the matter informed NBC News that the vocalist had cancer when he passed away.

The music legend is made it through by his partner, Jane Buffett, children Savanah Jane and Sarah, child Cameron, 2 grand sons and 2 sis, The New York Times reported.

Several fellow artists commemorated Buffett online following news of his death.

Jon Bon Jovi shared a picture of the 2 on his InstagramSept 2, composing, “Jimmy. Sail on my good friend. Luv u. JBJ.”

Paul McCartney shared a picture of himself and Buffett at a celebration on Instagram and shared a number of fond memories of his long time good friend, who he called “one of the kindest and most generous people” and applauded for is songwriting and singing capability.

“If someone made an interesting remark he repeated it in his gorgeous Louisiana drawl and said, ‘That’s a good idea for a song,'” the previous Beatles artist remembered. “Most times it didn’t take too long for that song to appear. I was very happy to have played on one of his latest songs called ‘My Gummy Just Kicked In.'”
