The U.S. Justice Department stated on Sunday it will examine police’s reaction to the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, that eliminated 19 kids and 2 instructors, in the middle of growing anger over why cops stopped working to quickly challenge the shooter.
Uvalde police enabled the shooter to stay in a class at Robb Elementary School for almost an hour while officers waited in the corridor and kids inside made stressed 911 requires support.
Texas state and county authorities state they are performing their own questions. Anthony Coley, a spokesperson for the Justice Department, stated it will carry out a “Critical Incident Review” of police’s reaction to the shooting at the demand of Uvalde’s mayor.
“The goal of the review is to provide an independent account of law enforcement actions and responses that day, and to identify lessons learned and best practices to help first responders prepare for and respond to active shooter events,” Coley stated.
“The Justice Department will publish a report with its findings at the conclusion of its review,” Coley included.
