A Malaysian appeals court on Wednesday promoted previous premier Najib Razak’s guilty decision in a case connected to a corruption scandal at state fund 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

Najib was sentenced to 12 years in jail and fined $50 million in 2015 by a high court after being condemned of criminal breach of trust, abuse of power and cash laundering for unlawfully getting about $10 million from SRC International, a previous system of now-defunct 1MDB.

“We dismiss the appeal on all seven charges and affirm the conviction on all seven charges,” the judge stated.

Najib has actually been totally free on bail pending the appeal.

His attorney Shafee Abdullah informed the court the previous premier would appeal the decision at the Federal Court, Malaysia’s leading tribunal.
