Mary Wilson, an establishing member of The Supremes, passed away Monday at her house in Las Vegas, her press agent stated. She was 76.

No cause of death was offered by her good friend and press agent Jay Schwartz.

Wilson was an initial member of the renowned Motown group understood for a string of hits consisting of “Stop! In the Name of Love” and “Back in My Arms Again.”

“The Supremes were always known as the ‘sweethearts of Motown.'” Berry Gordy, creator of the Motown record label, stated in a declaration. “Mary, together with Diana Ross and Florence Ballard, concerned Motown in the early 1960s. After an unmatched string of No. 1 hits, tv and club reservations, they opened doors on their own, the other Motown acts, and lots of, lots of others.

“She was a trendsetter, a queen and will be deeply missed out on,” Gordy stated.

Wilson, Ross and Ballard increased to popularity as a trio, however the group began with 4 females. Barbara Martin left the group, which Wilson and the others signed up with as teenagers in Detroit.

The Supremes declared a lots No. 1 songs, 5 of which were successive from 1964-1965. “Where Did Our Love Go,” “Baby Love,” “Come See About Me,” “Stop! In the Name of Love” and “Back in My Arms Again,” all topped the charts.

While the Supremes were Motown’s initially struck group, they would not be the last.

They were inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by Little Richard in 1988.
