Pratishtha Raut (28) from Hounslow won a trip to stay with Lux Hotels & Resorts in Mauritius for raising ?10,000 for charity in Miss England. But on the very last day of the trip after experiencing a jam packed week of exciting activities including sightseeing, horse riding and boat trips, the trip ended in disaster for her. Pratishtha, decided to swim back to the shore herself instead of taking the boat and was stung so badly she couldn't sit down, missed her flight back to the UK and ended up in a local hospital overnight.

    Pratistha presumed the discomfort needs to have been from the saltwater annoying blisters and bites.

    But by the time she returned to her hotel space, ‘it seemed like somebody put hot boiling water on [her] body and the skin began to melt’.

    She stated: ‘I looked down to see the location that was injuring and, to my surprise, I had a rash all on my legs and bottom.

    ‘In a matter of minutes it started to spread. I went to the hotel medical team who were so amazing with their quick response.’

    Staff assisted Pratistha get altered and put her into a taxi to take her to healthcare facility– where she was provided medication to relieve the discomfort and to stop the spread of the response.

    ‘The pain from the sting was unbearable, I couldn’ t walk or sit correctly,’ Pratistha stated.

    Doctors did not understand how Pratistha would respond so they chose to keep her over night to observe.
