A Canadian secondary school will be relabelled in an effort to distance itself from its name the Duke of York.
Prince Andrew High School, in Nova Scotia, took the name to honour the royal in 1960 soon after he was born.
But it is cutting ties with him following news he will deal with trial over accusations he sexually attacked Virginia Giuffre, after a United States judge declined his effort to dismiss the civil claim.
The school stated it desired the brand-new name to be ‘reflective of [its] neighborhood and maintains worths as a safe and inclusive’ area.
‘Our hope is to continue to build our identity as a positive, supportive and respectful community, with a name to match. We have heard from many of you who feel the same way,’ the principal Craig Campbell composed in a letter to moms and dads.
The school has actually developed a six-person relabeling committee, comprised of trainees and team member who will welcome the neighborhood to send their recommendations for the brand-new name.

Giuffre is taking legal action against the Duke declaring he ‘committed sexual assault and battery’ when she was 17 years of ages.
