Reddit simply reached a turning point in video views.
In August in 2015, the popular online message-board website began hosting videos, instead of counting on third-party hosting platforms. It now has more than 1 billion native video views on a monthly basis, it stated in an articleTuesday Reddit is now serving 400,000 hours of natively hosted video every day, and almost 70 percent of this traffic is from Reddit apps on mobile phones.
“We’ve seen rich content and conversation continue to coexist within communities in a way that is authentic to Reddit and its thousands of communities,” the business stated in the post.
This follows the shift of focus that started at Reddit in 2017, when the business presented the capability to host videos and images by itself, and made it possible for advertisements in native videos. Before Reddit introduced the native hosting capability, users needed to publish videos on third-party platforms like YouTube, then publish the video links on Reddit.
The variety of video views on Reddit is still far lower than the overall YouTube delights in. YouTube streams 1 billion hours of video every day, according to a representative.
Reddit is likewise teaming up with business like Nintendo, Netflix and Audi on video advertising campaign.
