Sarah Ferguson is continuing to recuperate following her single mastectomy.
After sharing she was detected with an early kind of breast cancer and needed to go through surgical treatment, the Duchess of York assessed her journey.
“It’s really just extraordinary to come to terms with a new you,” she stated on the July 5 episode of her and Sarah Thomson‘s podcast Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah, which was taped about a week after the treatment. “It’s extraordinary. You just cannot be complacent with yourself or life or just how lucky you are.”
As Ferguson remembered, she had actually adopted a regular mammogram and the physician found a “shadow.” She stated she then went to the NHS’ Royal Free Hospital in London, where she “had contrast put in my arm” and they might even more see the shadow. She later on went through surgical treatment at King Edward VII’s Hospital.
“From the drive from the Royal Free over to the VII, I sort of looked up mastectomy,” the duchess kept in mind. “And then pathology returned a couple of days later on and after that, naturally, your mind’s currently gone racing in every instructions. And then [I] get a text stating, ‘We believe it’s mastectomy.’ Then your mind plays more techniques. And then you go and satisfy the reconstructive cosmetic surgeon and you unexpectedly believe, ‘OK, we can do this.'”
