Saudi Arabia turned down as “not based on facts” declarations slamming the kingdom after an OPEC+ choice recently to cut its oil production target regardless of U.S. objections.

The OPEC+ choice was consentaneous and took into consideration the balance of supply and need and was targeted at suppressing market volatility, the Saudi foreign ministry stated in a declaration on Thursday.

President Joe Biden promised previously today that “there will be consequences” for U.S. relations with Saudi Arabia after OPEC+ stated last week it would cut its oil production target by 2 million barrels daily.

OPEC+, the manufacturer group consisting of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) plus allies consisting of Russia, revealed its brand-new production target after weeks of lobbying by U.S. authorities versus such a relocation.

The United States implicated Saudi Arabia of kowtowing to Moscow, which challenge a Western cap on the rate of Russian oil in reaction to its intrusion of Ukraine.

The Saudi foreign ministry declaration, estimating an unnamed authorities, worried the “purely economic context” of the oil cut.

“The Kingdom clarified through its continuous consultations with the U.S. administration that all economic analyses indicate that postponing the OPEC+ decision for a month, according to what has been suggested would have had negative economic consequences,” it stated.
