Apple co-founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak might have constructed an innovation empire now worth over $1 trillion, however they didn’t share rather the exact same viewpoints on cash, Wozniak informed previous Apple evangelist Guy Kawasaki in a podcast interview released Wednesday. Woz stated that while he never ever truly appreciated cash, Jobs was focused on succeeding.

“Steve wanted to be important, and he had zero money,” Wozniak stated. “So he was constantly trying to find little methods to make a next action in cash, [and] he wished to be that crucial individual in life. And this was his huge possibility, since now he was creator of a business with huge cash being put in.”

When the business removed, Wozniak states Jobs’ character altered. He no longer wished to play tricks or joke around. Instead, he wished to talk company. “He got kind of strict,” Woz showed.

It didn’t come as much of a surprise, however. From the day they fulfilled, Jobs was constantly discussing crucial individuals like Shakespeare who had actually altered the world.

“Because he talked about those people all the time, he wanted to be one of them, and he felt he had it,” Wozniak stated. “He had the motivation, and sometimes wanting something is a lot more important than having the real skill.”

Woz, on the other hand, was content with being an engineer at HP throughout Apple’s early days and wasn’t even sure if he wished to delegate work solely at Apple.

“I had told everyone I knew I was going to be an engineer at Hewlett Packard for life because I loved it and I didn’t want to ever be corrupted by big money,” Wozniak stated. “I’d read too many stories that were not the person I wanted to wind up being.”

But Jobs wasn’t having it. After Woz denied working just at Apple, Jobs called Wozniak’s family members and good friends and informed them to speak with him up until he was lastly convinced.

Woz stated he’s still an Apple staff member, and is the only individual who’s gotten an income from the business every week because its start. Still, after cash is secured for cost savings, he states he gets no greater than around $50 a week in his checking account after taxes.

“It’s small, but it’s out of loyalty, because what could I do that’s more important in my life?” he stated. “Nobody’s going to fire me. And I really do have strong feelings always for Apple.”
