The Duffer Brothers took grace on a Stranger Things character in the season 4 ending, and for that, we’re grateful.
In the initial scripts, Matt and Ross Duffer prepared to exterminate 3 essential characters: Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn),Dr Brenner (Matthew Modine) and … Enzo a.k.a. Dimitri ( T om Wlaschiha). But as the cast and team started recording, the Duffer Brothers understood they could not eliminate the Russian guard right now.
“He ended up making it,” Matt informedCollider “But that’s [the most] radical of a departure from the initial concept versus what we wound up with.”
But it’s unusual for the Duffer Brothers to alter their mind after they have actually settled scripts. “When we’re breaking a season, that is one of the first things we’re talking about is, where do we want this story to end up?” he discussed. “I don’t think we’ve deviated truly in any season for the finale, we’ve always stuck to it. I believe the case is the same here.”
