A federal appeals court on Monday declined a quote by previous Trump White House chief of personnel Mark Meadows to move his criminal election disturbance trial from Georgia state court to federal court.

The 11 th Circuit Court of Appeals maintained a previous federal district court judgment turning down the transfer of the case versus Meadows from Fulton County Superior Court.

Meadows is charged in Georgia with criminally conspiring with Donald Trump and others to reverse his loss to President Joe Biden in the state’s 2020 election.

Monday’s choice by a three-judge federal appeals panel in Atlanta came days after Meadows’ attorneys had actually argued for the transfer at a hearing.

The panel stated that a law securing an officer of the United States from needing to address for his main conduct in state court “does not apply to former officers” such as Meadows.

And even if Meadows was an “officer” of the United States by being Trump’s White House chief of personnel at the time of the charged criminal offenses, “his participation in an alleged conspiracy to overturn a presidential election was not related to his official duties,” the panel stated in its 47- page viewpoint.

Meadows has actually pleaded innocent in the event, where he, Trump, and 17 other individuals were prosecuted previously this year.
