The $250 million civil scams trial that might see previous President Donald Trump completely prohibited from doing organization in New York is set to start Monday.
The trial comes a year after New York Attorney General Letitia James sued him, his business, 3 of his adult kids, and top Trump Organization authorities.
James declared the offenders misstated the worths of property residential or commercial properties by billions of dollars in organization records to acquire much better loan and insurance coverage terms, and tax advantages.
Trump, who is looking for the 2024 GOP governmental election, got to Manhattan Supreme Court for the start of the trial.
Before it started, Trump declared the case was a “witch hunt” focused on weakening his governmental project.
“Everything was perfect. There was no crime. The crime is against me,” Trump informed press reporters in the corridor outside the courtroom.
James notched a huge win versus Trump and other offenders recently when Judge Arthur Engoron ruled they were accountable for the scams claims. Engoron because judgment canceled the offenders’ New York organization certificates and purchased an independent receiver to supervise their dissolution.
Engoron, not a jury, will choose whether the offenders are accountable for the other 6 claims at the trial, which is anticipated to conclude in late December.

James, who is likewise in court, in a declaration stated, “For years, Donald Trump falsely inflated his net worth to enrich himself and cheat the system.”
“We won the foundation of our case last week and proved that his purported net worth has long been rooted in incredible fraud,” James stated. “No matter how rich or powerful you are, there are not two sets of laws for people in this country. The rule of law must apply equally to everyone, and it is my responsibility to make sure that it does.”
