    The cause of the loud blast was not immediately clear but CCTV footage shared online suggests it originated from a bag left on the street.

    There are already speculations online of a ‘terrorist attack’ but Turkish officials are yet to comment on these.

    The area had been crowded as usual at the weekend with shoppers, tourists and families.

    Eyewitnesses said stores were shuttered and the avenue was immediately closed down.
