Nintendo is formally under examination.
Today, the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) revealed that it’s going to take a better take a look at “certain portable gaming console systems with attachable handheld controllers and components thereof” produced byNintendo In other words, the Nintendo Switch.
Why now? A business called Gamevice states the Nintendo Switch infringes on its patents for removable controllers. Gamevice is asking the ITC for a “limited exclusion order” or a stop and desist order, to keep Nintendo from importing the Switch into the UnitedStates At this point, we do not truly understand if that’s most likely to occur: the ITC states it “has not yet made any decision on the merits of the case.” If history’s any judge, it’s not most likely.
Gamevice likewise took legal action against Nintendo last August for the very same factor, however court records reveal Gamevice chose to drop the case willingly inOctober
