Why this CEO thinks experience can be overrated

Revealed: The Secrets our Clients Used to Earn $3 Billion

Experience might not be the be-all and end-all when it pertains to creating your group at work. Darktrace CEO Poppy Gustafsson discusses why.

When it pertains to creating an excellent group, experience is typically high up on the list of things you’re searching for. But should it be?

Poppy Gustafsson, CEO of cybersecurity business Darktrace, thinks that experience can be an overrated quality.

“In the earliest days at Darktrace, we were brainstorming about how to reduce the length of our sales cycle. In those days, we were running a three month proof of value because that’s what the rest of the industry did,” Poppy Gustafsson discussed to CNBC Make It.

“It took the young graduate in the room who had been working with us at that point for less than a year to have the bright idea to say: Why are we doing a three-month proof of value? Why not just do it in three weeks?”

The recommendation altered the business’s service design and it never ever recalled.

“From that point forward, we were able to reduce our sales cycle by two-thirds,” stated Gustafsson.

“That, for me, is a great example that even though we try and think outside the boundaries, it takes someone that’s not weighed down by an understanding of the way that things have always been done to think creatively and with a fresh perspective and common sense.”

This is simply among Poppy Gustafsson’s most significant lessons. Watch the video above for more.
