Durst wed Debrah Charatan in 2000. He put his 2nd spouse in charge of handling his cash and transferred to Galveston, Texas, where he leased an apartment or condo—while pretending to be a mute female.
“I wore the wig for the first couple of weeks but it’s a real inconvenience, pain in the tush,” Durst stated in the All Good Things commentary. “I don’t know how women do it with the hair in my mouth all of the time. I mean, jogging with it was absolutely impossible and, after a while, I just stopped doing it.”
Morris Black lived throughout the hall. Durst firmly insisted that Black’s death in 2001 was self-defense, that his next-door neighbor had very first pointed Durst’s weapon at him, after which they battled and the weapon went off, mortally injuring Black. Durst kept that he eliminated the head from the body and sliced the rest up in order to get rid of Black’s stays with more ease—which he eliminated the body out of worry that cops merely would not think his story.

A jury, nevertheless, did discover him credible—or a minimum of had sensible doubt of his intent—and discovered him innocent of murder in 2003.
