Harlow, Harry Styles and Doja Cat are connected for the most 2022 MTV VMA s elections with 8 nods each, while Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Lil Nas X carefully follow behind with 7 nods each. Additionally, Billie Eilish is chosen in 6 classifications, while Lizzo, Future, BTS, The Weeknd, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift each have 5 elections.
Minaj is set to take house a gold-plated moonperson for the sought after 2022 VMA Video Vanguard Award, which is granted to artists in acknowledgment of their “outstanding contributions and profound impact on music video and popular culture,” according to a news release from MTV. Past receivers of the award consist of Beyonc é, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Missy Elliott and more.
Additionally, the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be granted the distinguished Global Icon Award, which is provided to “an artist or band whose unparalleled career, continued impact, and influence have maintained a unique level of global success in music and beyond, leaving an indelible mark on the music landscape,” per MTV. Previous receivers of the Global Icon Award consist of U2, Eminem, Green Day, Foo Fighters and more.
